Friends of Somerby School
Who are FOSS?
We are Friend of Somerby Primary School (FOSS) and our aim is to provide a link between the parents, the school and the community, in order to ensure a pleasant and stimulating environment for the children and to provide additional resources, experience and facilities though our fundraising activities and events.
How is FOSS organised?
FOSS is made up of parents, carers and community member of children of Somerby School past and present. We are also looking for new members who can contribute in any way. We meet regularly to discuss ideas and events. The events are not only to help raise funds for use by the school but also to provide an opportunity for parents, staff, pupils and the community to get together.
We are currently going through the process of voting in new members but in the meantime, you can contact us by email or our Facebook and Twitter pages.
How is the money spent?
The Funds raised by FOSS are intended to pay for extras for the school and children, which are not part of the school’s main budget. Examples of this are helping towards trips or guest visitors to the school, outdoor benches and tables for children to use at playtimes and our greatest achievement to date, the refurbishment of our new library area and new books for the children to enjoy.
How can I get involved?
The FOSS Facebook page and Twitter is a great way to keep informed about upcoming events, photos and other information. You can also attend any of our regular meetings or just speak to one of our members in the playground.
