Year 2 and 3 - Ash Class

A Picture Paints a Thousand Words

We have enjoyed exploring lots of different artwork this half term, trying to decide if all pictures can paint words (we think they can!).
In PE, we have been expressing ourselves through gymnastics. We have practised lots of different types of roll, balances, jumps and much more! We have also loved learning how to start and end a gymnastics routine.

Our art themed extended to our English work too. We have been exploring the wordless picture book ‘Journey’. We had a go at writing the main characters diary for her exciting adventures and we even had a go at writing and punctuating speech using a speech sandwich!

In our science lessons, we have been learning all about the forces that are around us and how magnets work. We explored how friction keeps us from slipping everywhere and we asked lots of questions about magnets, that we had a go at testing out and finding the answers. We learned that fridge magnets can hold about 7 pieces of paper and that magnets work both in air and in water!

We have been learning all about Judaism in RE this half-term. We have been discovering what is important to Jewish people whilst learning all about their celebrations and festivals. We especially loved learning about Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish new year. We tried apples drizzled in honey because Jewish people eat this to celebrate the ‘sweet new year’. We also had a go at making our own Jewish Shofar horns!
