Year 2 and 3 - Ash Class
Mummy Mayhem – Life in Ancient Egypt
We have been so busy this half-term! We have LOVED exploring all about life in ancient Egypt.
In English, we have role-played exploring a riches filled tomb and written a diary to match our exploring. We have also learned about non-chronological reports and we created our own fantastic fact files all about the ancient Egyptian gods.
In history, we have loved learning all about the pharaohs, what Egyptians did for fun, the pyramids, their gods (especially Seth – god of chaos!) and I think we most enjoyed learning about the interesting process of mummification.
We have explored Egyptian symbols in our art lessons. We looked at patterns used most in their art and we experimented with the symbols that we liked the most. Then, we had a go at making our own papyrus paper. It was messy but lots of fun! We then decorated our papyrus paper with the symbols that we had practised creating.
In PE, we have learned all about team games such as basketball and dodgeball. We loved learning how to bounce the basketball by pushing through the ball and how to shoot accurately at the basket. We LOVED further practising our accuracy in dodgeball, throwing balls at each other and dodging them too!
